Curriculum Instruction Assessment Consultant Full Time

Sask DLC requires a Curriculum Instruction and Assessment Consultant, for the 2025-26 school year. The position will commence on August 25, 2025. The campus location will be determined by the principal residence of the successful candidate.

Sask DLC is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation, created to deliver high-quality and equitable online learning programs to students across the province. Sask DLC’s head office is located in Kenaston, with an administrative office in Regina, and regional campuses located in Estevan, Kenaston, La Ronge, Moose Jaw, Neilburg, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current and Yorkton.

The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (CIA) Consultant at Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre (Sask DLC), works closely with Sask DLC stakeholders to consult in the areas of curriculum, instruction & assessment related to the Sask DLC programming. Reporting to the Superintendent of Student Programming, this multifaceted role requires a highly organized, innovative, and collaborative individual who can effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and ensure all deadlines are met while supporting staff in aspects of the role description. The CIA Consultant plays a pivotal role in fostering a cohesive and productive work environment at Sask DLC by supporting the Education Plans goals of Leadership, Culture and Academics.

Primary Responsibilities:

Academics

• Develop and implement a long-term work plan (2 to 3 years) for the role of the CIA Consultant at Sask DLC including specific actions/progress & reporting plans for all facets of CIA role responsibilities.

• Lead the “procurement of resources” process at Sask DLC, collaborating with Resource Bank Consultant, Educational Technology Coach, and IT Director to ensure adherence the process and timelines (within 2 weeks of request).

• Facilitate the sharing of best practices and instructional resources among educators through professional learning networks, workshops, and training sessions.

• Offer guidance and support to teachers in navigating distance education best practices, accessing curriculum resources, and implementing effective instructional strategies.

• Ensure adoption and approval of Locally Developed and Modified course curriculum.

• Collaborate on requesting and receiving ministry approval of locally developed curriculum with the curriculum development contractor and initiating teams.

• Implement and report on Sask DLC’s Education Plan as applicable to the CIA role. (Ex: Assist in implementing the Assessment, Grading, and Communication (AGC) Framework in collaboration with the AGC Committee, Personalized Learning etc.)

• Regularly communicate updates on curriculum initiatives, resources, and instructional supports to teachers and administrators.

• Analyze assessment data to identify trends for continuous improvement in curriculum and instruction

• Plan in collaboration with the Student Programming team, Student records, and Instructional leadership teams related to the implementation and collection of large-scale assessment data.

• Utilize data to report to Senior Leadership and the Superintendent of Student Programming, providing a detailed year-end report of all CIA-related actions and outcomes.

Leadership

• Collaborate with the Educational Technology Coach to ensure support aligns with the Ed. Tech Coach role description.

• Collaborate with educators and campus administrators to provide ongoing support and feedback on curriculum implementation and instruction

• Stay current with best practices, research, and professional development opportunities in the field of education, particularly in online instruction, assessment, and curriculum delivery.

• Provide input and feedback into the development of a reporting tool for online teachers that indicates growth and achievement of students.

• Co-lead the Instructional Leadership Team and develop a work plan aligned with team goals.

• Work collaboratively with Sask DLC Professional Learning Networks to support where applicable.

• Facilitate collaboration among student programming team and Sask DLC stakeholders.

• Take an active role on the Student Programming Team to ensure integration throughout Sask DLC.

Culture

• Foster a supportive, respectful, and engaging online learning environment for online teachers that encourages student participation, engagement, and success.

• Lead implementation of Leader in Me initiatives in collaboration with Senior Leadership.

• Represent Sask DLC on assigned provincial-level committees or working groups and lead or actively participate in Sask DLC Committees as assigned.

• Communicate effectively to all appropriate Sask DLC stakeholders related to CIA updates or just in time items.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.

• Knowledge of current research-based online instructional and assessment practices.

• Proficiency in using Moodle, Microsoft Teams, and other digital platforms for teaching and communication.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching, assessment, and curriculum delivery practices.

• Ability to build positive relationships with online teachers and campus administration in a remote context.

• Passion for fostering inclusive, culturally relevant learning experiences for all students.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).

• Previous experience supervising and supporting teaching and administrative staff.

• Proven educational leadership and preferably, within online curriculum delivery.

• Valid Saskatchewan teaching certificate with SPTRB and membership with STF.

• Master’s degree in education or related field (preferred).
